eQtickets Shines During FIFA 2010 World Cup

In a significant coup for the company, eQtickets was entrusted with not only installing crowd and access control, but also technology support, throughout the biggest sporting tournament on earth – the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Prior to the tournament, eQtickets, well known for its access control and ticketing solutions for major events, was announced as the official provider of access control technology at several FIFA World 2010 Cup Venues.

During the tournament eQtickets technicians and project managers from both South African and Austria, representing the company’s global business partner SKIDATA, were scattered across the country to offer support and intelligence to the organisers and venue owners.

The team was hard at work ensuring that the implemented technology and subsequent access control ran smoothly during 62 international football matches, held at five of the nine major stadiums.

These stadiums include:

Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, PE Royal Bafokeng, Rustenburg
Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit

On average, the stadiums were 85% full for all games and started on time without delay. True to eQtickets form, no problems relating to access control, or the technology associated with it, were experienced.

Experience such as this is truly invaluable, and proves that eQtickets has what it takes to become the next major ticketing provider in South Africa.
